The following is what the committee has brought forth for the 2010 competition. Any and all other suggestions should be brought before the committee at the next meeting. We are looking for all your suggestions to make this event successful. As of this time we have an Archery Coordinator, Mike Brouillard from Highland.

We are looking for clubs to host these events. We are also looking for a Shotgun Coordinator.
We are planning to hold three 3-D archery shoots and one trap, one skeet and one sporting clays
(or 5 stand) shotgun shoots.

  1. There will be a suggestion box available to all at each shoot that is held to extend and expand the competition for upcoming years.

  1. All of the archery shoots will follow the IBO (International Bowhunting Org.). Not the FITA rules as previously stated.

    2. Jr. Shot Gunner of the Year (age 15 and younger)

                   3.   Not competing for award, $12.00 per shoot, Jr. and Sr. ($10.00 to host club and
                         $2.00 to FRISC)

  1. Any money that the host club raises from the sale of food and drink or any other sale will                                    stay with the host club.

  1. There will be three shoots for each competitions with the lowest score dropped. If you only attend two shoots no score will be dropped.
  1. The competition will be held over the summer months of June, July, and August. The winners will be awarded at the FRISC annual banquet held in September.

The committee and FRISC E-board are looking at this time to have a FRISC Day/ Event as a kick off to this competition. More will follow on this in the very near future. Any question or problems can be directed to the committee chairman.

Committee Chairman’s Note:

The purpose of this program is to bring comraderie among member clubs and to get others to join us in our mission:

The goal of FRISC is the unification of organized sportsmen of Rhode Island and nearby territory into a single body, thereby creating cooperative thought and action towards establishing and maintaining sane and suitable control of the restoration, protection and preservation of fish, game, and non-game wildlife and their habitats and to perpetuate with the high ethics and ideals the recreational sport of fishing, hunting, sport shooting, camping, horseback riding, reforestation, beautification, and clean waters.

In the early 1990’s I first got involved in shooting. Back then at every shoot I attended, I would meet new people from other clubs. It was good fellowship to go from club to club and seeing these people and meeting new ones. As years went by, and as these people got older, there was less interaction and I feel that people, with help of a then booming economy, turned inwards, got involved with other things [sometimes too many other things (“So much to do, so little time.”)].
With tough times here and probably ahead, I feel it is a good time to come together, have a little fun, and speak in one loud voice about our concerns as sportsmen and free Americans.

Resurrecting the federated will be hard work, but we need to do something fun. We felt he easiest thing to get going was this competition. In the future we would like to add in fresh and salt water fishing tournaments as well as other disciplines of shooting. Who knows, if there is enough interest we could have a mountain bike race someday. We could use your help, and it starts right here.

Sincerely,

Dean Talbot, Secretary, FRISC
