James W. Chadwick Jr.
CHADWICK, JAMES W. JR., 79, of Mail Road, died Friday after a year long battle with Cancer. He was the husband of Dolores M. (Pender) Chadwick, they were married 55 years.

Born in Haverhill, MA, he was a son of the late J. Warren and Helen E. (Conant) Chadwick. He graduated from the Tilton School in 1947 and from UMASS at Amherst in 1951.

Mr. Chadwick was an instructor at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, UMASS at Amherst from 1952 to 1955. In 1957, he worked as a Deer Biologist for the West Virginia Dept. of Natural Resources, until 1964. In 1965 he moved to Rhode Island and began a 27 year career with the Dept. of Environmental Management for the State of RI, retiring as Deputy Chief in 1992. His proudest accomplishment was being credited with restoring the Wild Turkey Population in Rhode Island. Mr. Chadwick was a member of Rhode Island Ducks Unlimited, and served as Past State Chairman, a charter member of the RI Wild Turkey Federation where he served as the first president, and the National Wildlife Society. He was an avid hunter, conservationist and enjoyed gardening.

He was the father of three daughters, Helen Pintrick of Michigan, Nancy Taylor of Exeter, and Kathleen Egan of Wakefield, brother of Roger Chadwick of Haverhill, MA, Constance Law of Wilbraham, MA and Rodney Chadwick of West Newbury, MA, and grandfather of six.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday in St. Augustine Chapel, 35 Lower College Road, Kingston. Visiting hours will be at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday 5-8 PM.
